Best ASUS Gaming Laptops In 2023

ASUS makes some of the best gaming laptops around. Their price tag is attractive when we compare them to brands such as Razer and Alienware, and they can rival the competition.

In this article, I will help you find the perfect ASUS laptop for your gaming needs.

What to look for when buying?

CPU

When buying a gaming laptop, you need to pay attention to a few things. First of all, the CPU. Right now, a gaming laptop will either have an Intel or AMD CPU. Intel has its popular Core series, while AMD has the Ryzen processors.

Either option is good enough. You have to know that Intel Core CPUs have a hierarchy: i9, i7, i5, i3. The best is i9, while the weakest is i3. However, that is relative to each generation. The latest is the 12th, and the 12th gen Core i3 can surpass the performance of the i5 and i7 of the 11th.

Similarly, Ryzen processors also have a number indicating the power they deliver: 3, 5, 7, and 9. So again, the logic here applies equally.

RAM

Right now, if you are going to buy a new laptop for gaming, the minimum RAM it should have is 16GB. Many games run just fine on 8GB, but plenty of new AAA titles need at least 16GB for you to play comfortably. Elden Ring is a good example.

GPU

The GPU is one of the most critical components for any gaming machine. Therefore, the quality of your GPU will heavily impact the performance when you play.

For a gaming laptop, the minimum we recommend is getting a GTX 1650. Many budget laptops have this GPU, and it can run many new games. If you want to spend more, you can go with the RTX series.

Display

Most laptops have a 15-inch display, which is good enough for most gamers. Some laptops have a larger 17-inch screen but keep in mind that these are harder to carry in a backpack. Smaller (14, 13-inch models) displays will negatively impact your experience. There will be less area available to check what’s going on in the game.

Best ASUS Gaming Laptops In 2023

ASUS ROG Zephyrus 15.6

Premium Gaming Laptop

  • AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
  • 40GB RAM
  • 2TB PCIe SSD

I will tell you that this is the most expensive laptop in this article. However, it has incredible specs, making it a computer that should last many years without needing a replacement.

Its incredible Ryzen 9 processor will power any game or application you need to run without bottleneck or random crashes. Likewise, its amazing GeForce RTX 3070 can run any of the latest games at full performance, including the beloved Elden Ring!

If you want connection speed, the Zephyrus includes Wi-Fi 6. Wi-Fi 6 is faster than 5 because of the way it manages data requests.

For gamers that like to play with lights off, the backlit keyboard will help you see all keys well, so you don’t miss the action. That is very helpful when playing MOBAs at night, such as League of Legends.

Now, for storage, this laptop breaks the ceiling. Zephyrus comes with 2TB of SSD! SSD is the fastest storage type you could ask for, and 2TB is hard to fill up, meaning you will be able to keep all your favorite games installed.

The amount of RAM included is nothing short of amazing: 40GB is more than anyone needs for playing games, allowing for the smoothest experience.

If you are looking for the best ASUS gaming laptop in 2023 that will last you years, the ROG Zephyrus is the one.

Pros

  • Unbeatable hardware
  • Backlit keyboard
  • Durable

Cons

  • Premium price

Asus ROG Strix G17

Great Cost-Benefit Gaming Laptop With Excellent Visuals

  • AMD Ryzen 7 4800H
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
  • 32GB RAM
  • 1TB SSD

I will not lie: if I were to choose a gaming laptop based solely on visuals, I would pick any of the ASUS ROG Strix. In my opinion, they are the most beautiful gaming laptops because of their purple lighting scheme.

But they are not only visuals, of course. The G17, as its name suggests, is a 17-inch laptop, meaning its aim is to replace a desktop, and it is not a laptop you will want to take everywhere on your backpack. Of course, you can do that, but you might feel some back pain.

Its hardware is a bit less potent than our friend Zephyrus, and the price is also more inviting. Even so, it is powered by Ryzen 7 plus GeForce RTX 3060. These are enough to play all the games you want with comfort. In addition, you won’t have to worry about FPS drop or screen freezing when you alt+tab to check different apps.

It has 32GB of RAM, which is slightly below the almighty 40GB you’ve seen in Zephyrus. However, 32GB can still handle all heavy applications.

The 1TB of SSD storage is also great news. Many gaming laptops have only 512GB of SSD to keep prices low, so you will be rewarded if you are willing to pay a bit more!

I mentioned the lighting, so here it goes: this laptop has a backlit keyboard and also lighting on its front bottom. It is a beauty to look at.

Pros

  • Great hardware
  • Beautiful lighting
  • Large screen for an excellent gaming experience

Cons

  • Too heavy to carry around

ASUS TUF FX706

Best Budget ASUS Gaming Laptop

  • 11th Gen Intel 6-Core i5-11260H
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM
  • 512GB PCIe SSD
  • GeForce RTX 3050

Among the best budget ASUS laptops, the ones that genuinely present an excellent cost-benefit are the models with a 17-inch screen. Of course, many 15-inch screen models are suitable. Still, at retailers such as Amazon, the price difference between each type is small. At the same time, the 17-inch laptops have far superior specs.

Because of that, I included yet another 17-inch model in this article. The TUF FX706 has impressive specs: 11th gen Core i7, 16GB of RAM, 512GB SSD, and the terrific GeForce RTX 3050.

Even though this is the cheapest and weakest laptop in this article, it still is a beast! The aim here is to recommend laptops that shall keep things together for long years, and the TUF FX706 will surely do that.

The combination of all its parts can run any games to be released in the next few years.

And, as the laptops already recommended above, this one also has a backlit keyboard.

Pros

  • Excellent price
  • Great hardware
  • Durable build

Cons

  • 17-inch makes hard to take it everywhere

Wrapping Up

If you are only looking for the most basic laptop, perhaps another good option will be the ASUS TUF Dash 15. It is in the same price range as the TUF FX706 but is smaller, making it better for taking around.
